Ok, so here we go....I've been wanting to start a blog for some time but I wasn't sure I would have the ability to write and express myself in a way that would be worth reading. I decided to just go with it and, if nothing else, use it for a journal.
Today is the 5th birthday for our oldest grandson, Cayden. I have the privilege of picking him up from school a couple times a week. Driving home from school with Cayden is always an enjoyable experience, but this week has been especially fun. Just starting kindergarten, Cayden believes he has already learned all that needs to be learned. He knows all his colors and can not understand why they persist in teaching a new color everyday. He insists that he already knows his letters so why must they review a new letter weekly. When I asked Cayden what letter they were studying this week, he quickly informed me that I was the letter for the week. I asked him if he knew what an I looked like, and he immediately raised his hand and drew a capital I with his finger in the air. I was pretty impressed with the precision this little 5 year old used in creating the perfect I. I shared my excitement and exclaimed "Cayden, that was great! That was a big I, do you know how to make a little i?" Without hesitation he began drawing with his finger in the air a very small capital I. I don't think I stopped laughing until we got home.
Oh, the very literal thinking of a child. Is this how God would like us to think? When He promises that He will never leave us alone or how He has our very best in mind, how should we take that? Really? He says that we should come to Him like little children, maybe this is exactly what He means, literally. Know that His promises are real and what He says He will and does do. We can so easily get caught up in what we see and feel that we get sidetracked and stop trusting Him. I mean really trusting Him. This is when we fall so deep into our issues that we have nowhere else to turn but to Him.
Thank you dear Father for the promises you have for us, the promises that can comfort and keep us in those times.
